Audio guestbooks are becoming increasingly more popular and it’s easy to see why. From the retro rotary dial telephones to the popular London booth style to our unique Payphone guestbook conversion, it's undeniable that the idea is rather clever. Though there's nothing inherently wrong with traditional written guestbooks, they can feel a little uninspiring and sometimes a little awkward.
Do you write your name?….Name & phone number?…Should you include a message?….What if your handwriting isn’t the best? I’m getting anxiety just thinking about it!
The rise of audio guestbooks has revived the guestbook concept and in my humble opinion, they feel much more natural for your guests to interact with. Not to mention, their really fun!
With that said, simply putting one in your reception won’t necessarily guarantee success especially if it's small and unnoticeable. This list of tips will cover exactly what you should do to make an audio guestbook one of the biggest hits of your event!
Tip 1 | Spread The Word
Have you ever attended a wedding where you weren’t even aware that there was an Audio Guestbook? If you have, you’re not alone. This very same thing has happened to me more than once in the past year alone. This isn’t our number 1 tip by accident.
Your guests are there to celebrate you and relish in the happiness of your big day. With all of the excitement and love in the air, things can get a tad bit overwhelming.
Here’s the good news though, with a little bit of pre-planning, you can set everyone up for success! There are ample opportunities to provide guidance and ensure that you and your guests get the most out of the Audio Guestbook experience.
Here are a few suggestions:
📣Make mention on your wedding website FAQs or detail/info page
📍Reference its location on your wedding program
🎤Get your DJ involved! Have them make a couple of announcements/reminders
Tip 2 | Make A Statement
Not to toot our own horns but…..📯📯📯!
Booking our Audio Guestbook Payphone makes this tip a breeze! Often times, audio guestbooks don’t get the attention they deserve at events due lack of creating a sense of attraction.
Embellishing with a balloon or floral garland to tie into your color scheme & theme will help to draw your guests’ attention even more!
Tip 4 | Photo Prop
Even without the fancy frills and decor, our Payphone acts as a unique prop/backdrop for amazing photos!
So go ahead, strike a pose and snap it up! 📸
Tip 3 | Maximize Your Time
We offer two packages for our Guestbook Payphone: Luxe & Classic. The main differences are the time allotments. The Luxe package allows 6 hours of usage while the Classic allows only 4.
Six hours typically ensures that our Payphone will be up and ready for use at least 1-2 hours prior to start time of your wedding (considering both your ceremony & reception are at the same location). This provides the PERFECT opportunity for your wedding party, parents & other loved ones who are present prior to the ceremony to use the Payphone uninterrupted and before the everyone gets too tipsy🥂. Don’t worry, the can come back around once the drinks are flowing too!
Additionally, having the Payphone operating earlier allows you and your partner to leave messages for each other prior to the wedding. An even more adorable idea would be to incorporate our Payphone with a private vow exchange. Imagine how special it would be to immortalize the voice of your partner professing their love and promises to you in a time capsule that could be replayed with a press of button!✨
Tip 5 | Select A Suitable Location
The farther the audio guestbook is away from the band or DJ, the better!
Think about it, would you take a phone call on the dance-floor…and stay there? Maybe, but probably not.
Having the audio guestbook away from the more ‘action-packed’ zones will allow your guests to more comfortably leave their messages.
One of our favorite spots for our Payphone Guestbook is in the entrance/foyer of the reception space!
